Send Silence Packing exhibit, today in Wilder Bowl

11 Apr

On 11 April Active Minds at Oberlin is hosting a program called Send Silence Packing. This program will be hosted in Wilder Bowl (rain location: Science Center).

Send Silence Packing is an exhibit of 1100 backpacks meant to represent the 1100 college students who lose their lives to suicide every year. Active Minds, Inc., has collected and continues to collect backpacks and personal stories in memory or in honor of loved ones impacted by suicide. The display is designed to humanize

the statistic and spur a conversation about what can be done to lower suicide rates around the country.

Active Minds at Oberlin will be tabling all day, discussing mental health-related issues and promoting the resources offered by Oberlin College. In addition, the Counseling Center will be tabling as well.
