Joey and Asa’s Senior Studio Exhibition

During Winter term and the month of February, college seniors Joey Pope and Asa Ivry-Block worked to completely alter the appearance of Fisher gallery.   A collaboration between the two artists intended to create a wintry, magical landscape inside what is normally a bland white cube.  The installation included several video projections of snow-scapes, tree branches painted white hanging from the ceiling, and mulch covering the ground.   The work seemed to reference children’s books involving magic and escape to another world.  All photos by Gary Cohen.

The landscape that Joey and Asa made was surrounded by a heavy curtain of tar paper strips- the videos were projected onto the strips, allowing light to filter through onto the outer walls of the gallery.
