Bowling Green Symposium

CALL FOR PAPERS
NEW PERSPECTIVES IN VISUAL CULTURE:
3RD ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM IN ART HISTORY

BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY

We invite undergraduate students to submit paper abstracts on original research topics in the field of art history for presentation at the 3rd Annual Symposium in Art History, entitled New Perspectives in Visual Culture. The symposium is organized by the Art History Association at Bowling Green State University, which aims to support critical scholarship of the arts at the undergraduate level and to allow for the professional development of young scholars intending to pursue a career in art history. Papers may address any geographical or temporal epoch, although scholarship that engages contemporary theory and issues of audience reception are particularly encouraged. The symposium will take place within the School of Art at Bowling Green State University, located in northwest Ohio. BGSU is recognized as a Center of Excellence of the Arts in the Ohio University system, and is committed to the promotion of critical scholarship in the arts. Key Note speaker: Lawrence Nichols, Curator of European Painting and Sculpture Before 1900 at the Toledo Museum of Art. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS: FEBRUARY 15, 2009
Send a 300-word (max.) abstract of paper, a current CV and cover letter by February 15, 2008 to: zmark@bgsu.edu. Abstracts should include, in addition to the subject and content of the intended paper, an indication of the theoretical and methodological approaches that inform the author’s research. Looking for a Summer Internship?

Internships and Fellowships at the Shelburne Museum
Deadline: January 15, 2009

Just a friendly reminder that the Deadline for applications for the Internships and Fellowships at the Shelburne Museum is soon approaching. Be sure to get your application in as soon as possible to be considered for one of the positions. We have a number of applicants already, but to be sure that we give everyone a chance, please submit your application by January 15, 2008. Please note that your application does not have to be complete at this point, we are willing to accept applications that do not have the letter of recommendation attached yet.
