Obie Grad Aimee Lee Granted Fulbright

Oberlin graduate and artist Aimee Lee (’99) has been granted a Research Fulbright Fellowship to study paper-making in Korea during the 2008-2009 academic year. After graduating from Oberlin College in 1999 with a BA in Visual Arts, she went on to study at Columbia College in Chicago, where she graduated with a MFA in Interdisciplinary Book and Paper Arts in 2006. Several months ago she was named an honorary artist member at the Center for Book Arts in New York. In the near future Lee’s work will be on display in Your Documents Please, a traveling exhibit in Japan. It will be showing at the Museum of Arts and Crafts (ITAMI) from April 4th through the 20th and then at ZAIM from April 26th through May 11th.

In her work she fashions unconventional books out of fabrics and fibers. Her artistic output is expansive in its reach, spaning the genres of performance, installation, and book arts media. The Clarence Ward Art Library recently bought one of Lee’s knitted books. It will be on display in the library within the next week.
