Congratulations Georgia Wall

The AICUO (Association of Independent Colleges & Universities of Ohio) Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts recently names Oberlin College Senior Georgia Wall one of 6 grand prize finalists. To be considered, an artist had to be an exceptional art student at a participating institution, and then nominated by a dean or department chair. As one of the 6 finalists, Georgia is in the running to be named the Grand Award winner in the second round of judging. The grand winner, as well as the People’s Choice Award winner, will be named and honored at a reception at Ohio Dominican University’s Colonial Room on April 21.

If you are interested in attending the event, contact Afton Gladman, Art Awards Coordinator at 614.228-2196, or agladman [at]

trans-masculine self-representations: images of identity

This past Friday, April 4, saw the opening of “trans-masculine self-representations: images of identity,” an art show that is exhibiting in Azariah’s Cafe until April 28. The show, featuring work by eddie gesso, Melsen Carlsen, and Cobi Moules, was put together by Amy Caes. Her description follows:

This project displays the ways in which individual artists use self-representations as a means of exploring negotiating trans-masculine identities. In addition, this project works to place these images in a social and artistic memory by presenting works in a public forum, and recording this exhibit in print form. By focusing on self-representations, this project centers gender identity formations and the ways in which discourses of gender shape artists’ patterns of representation.
