Беliбеrда (beli-berda; trans: glottogonic), an art show curated by Junior art history major Dana Harrison, is up now at the FAVA gallery in downtown Oberlin. The works presented in the show were all made by Kalan Sherrard, an Oberlin junior. Make sure to check out the work before it goes down! This Thursday, March 6, will be the closing reception, kicking off at 7 PM with a performance by the artist.

Visiting Professor of Systemic Theology Alejandro Garcia-Rivera

Alejandro Garcia-Rivera will be on campus for an exciting two days on March 5th and 6th. He is Professor of Systematic Theology at the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley and a brilliant scholar who writes extensively on the relationship of art and spirituality. He will be giving a lecture on the evening of March 5th and a round-table discussion on Art and Spirituality at noon on March 6th. Please join us for these thought-provoking events:

His lecture, entitled: “The Sense of Beauty and the Talk of God: Theology and the Arts,” will be presented on March 5th at 7:30 p.m. in Hallock Auditorium, followed by a reception in the Atrium of the Environmental Studies Building. Please join us for what will assuredly be an engaging and inpirational lecture on the historic relationship of these two subjects.

Round-table discussion on Spirituality and Art, lead by Professor Alejandro Garcia-Rivera at 12:00p.m. in Classroom 1, in the Clarence Ward Wing of the Department of Art. Discussants will include: Lynn Powell, Mary Hammond, Caroline Jackson-Smith, Steve Plank, Erik Inglis, and visiting artist Inigo Manglano-Ovalles and more!
